Research Colloquium
The UCSC Internal Round of the CSSL Research Colloquium took place from 7th May to 11th June 2025, providing a platform for UCSC students to showcase their innovative projects and gain recognition among leading industry professionals and investors. Following the submission period, all entries were rigorously evaluated by a panel comprising GenZ chapter members and Dr. Manjusri Wickramasinghe, representing the UCSC academic staff. The evaluation process culminated in the selection of five outstanding teams, who were subsequently nominated to represent UCSC at the CSSL’s broader evaluation for the Research Colloquium. This event not only fostered a spirit of research and innovation among students but also strengthened the chapter’s role in academic excellence and professional development.

AGM 2025

The inaugural Annual General Meeting of the CSSL GenZ Chapter of UCSC was convened on 16th July 2025 at the New Arts Theatre, University of Colombo. This landmark event symbolized the official launch of the chapter as an independent entity. Attendees included delegates from the CSSL council, representatives from CSSL, and members from fellow GenZ Chapters from other universities, reflecting strong institutional support and collaboration. The meeting featured a keynote address by Mr. Ruvendra Gunasena, a Council Member at CSSL, and marked the formal induction of the executive committee and team leaders. Additionally, the chapter’s official website was launched during the proceedings, further establishing its presence and commitment to transparency and outreach.

Election 2025

The Chapter Election for the CSSL GenZ Chapter of UCSC was held on 28th February 2025, marking a pivotal moment in the chapter’s history. This election was conducted to appoint officials for twelve executive committee positions for the 2025/26 term, with Dr. Manjusri Wickramasinghe serving as the election officer. All eligible members were invited to participate through social media and public notices on the Learning Management System (LMS). Notably, this election established the CSSL GenZ Chapter of UCSC as a standalone entity, formally separating it from the ACM Student Chapter of UCSC. The newly elected officers have since assumed their roles, setting the foundation for the chapter’s independent operations and future.

GenZpire 1.0
January 5, 2025
GenZpire 1.0, held on 20th August 2025, served as the introductory session for the CSSL GenZ Chapter of UCSC. The event welcomed first and second-year undergraduate students, offering them insights into the chapter’s mission and activities. A highlight of the session was an informative talk by Mr. Suvin Nimnaka, Senior Software Engineer at WSO2, who shared valuable guidance on balancing volunteering with academic responsibilities. The event successfully introduced participants to both CSSL and the GenZ Chapter, and immediately following the session, the official recruitment process for new members commenced. The day ended with fun games and activities which gave an opportunity of casual mingling and networking for the attendees. GenZpire 1.0 played a crucial role in expanding the chapter’s reach and fostering a culture of engagement and leadership among UCSC undergraduates.
